Ways to keep fit at Rosenthal

Keeping active and fit doesn't always have to mean joining a team or playing in an organised competition, there are plenty of other options around the Sunbury area to explore.

Organised programs

The Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre has a broad range of programs available, covering all levels of fitness and age groups. Whether it's aqua aerobics, cross-training or getting your Zumba on, fitness goals are one step closer with a timetable of options.

Running groups

Do you know about parkrun yet? For runners, joggers, walkers and strollers, you need to check out the Sunbury parkrun, a 5 kilometre organised event that runs every Saturday at 8am, 52 weeks of the year, and it's free. This event is run around the world always at the same time, so when you join in you are taking part with thousands of participants worldwide. This parkrun kicks off at Apex Park on Sunbury Road every Saturday - ids, prams and dogs welcome.

Shoot some hoops

If you're a basketball fan, but can't commit to a regular team, why not grab a few friends and shoot some hoops at the many half courts and towers around the Sunbury area. It's free and a great way to get active with friends, you may even be able to inspire a motivated crew for a regular hit out. For details on basketball facilities within the Sunbury parks and green spaces, visit Hume City Council.

Furry friendly parks

You can't beat getting out and about with your animal pals, combining an exercise session with time with your fur-balls. For those with dogs that like to get in some free running, check out the nominated off-leash parks in the Sunbury area, including areas of Langama Park and Stewarts. Lane Nature Reserve. For a map of areas to suit check out the council guide.

Get wheeling

With so many options for cycling around Rosenthal and the greater Sunbury area, you'd be crazy to not get on board with this fitness activity! If you're after more than a leisurely ride around the cycle routes, you could check out the Hume Bicycles Users Group (BUG). This group is a hive of social activity with monthly rides around the Hume area.
